Introducing AERA's new quarterly publication

Over the next few months, you will be reading a great deal about the launch of AERA’s new quarterly publication Engine Professional (EP). EP will replace monthly ShopTalk and offer readers a good deal more content. EP is scheduled to debut January 2008 and will be packed with an initial 48 pages of technical information.

What separates EP from all other publications is our focus. Technical articles will cover real shop issues and solutions to those issues. AERA has the luxury of a three-man technical department that fields hundreds of call requests for engine specs, machining practices, assembly procedures and a myriad of problem resolutions for almost every type of engine imaginable. Our tech department will be intimately involved in supplying EP with the most helpful, relevant and beneficial content possible. Coupled with the tech department will be AERA member contributions. A quick scan through the AERA membership roster and you will see many who are leaders in specialty engine and component development. We intend to involve these specialists to offer readers of EP information that otherwise may be difficult to obtain. We will not overlook non-member contributions in our quest to inform our readers. There are many technologies which impact engine building that will be of importance to shops. We will include such content as it directly relates to shop needs. AERA is all about engine data supply so you can imagine how excited we are to embark on this new publication.

Besides supplying engine information, the AERA Board of Directors has always sought the most efficient and effective way to tell the AERA story to a greater audience. Many proposals have been advanced and discussed but all required funding well beyond our ability to achieve it. We see EP as the tool to reach a much broader base of engine builder. One leftover from the RPM Show was a well-sorted list of engine specialists. Many of these individuals and businesses didn’t know about AERA or what we are all about. I would have to honestly say that many still do not but this will change as these very same specialists fold into our new EP readership. New vendors and non-member shops will read about the deep level of services AERA provides. Readers will see first hand the depth of understanding AERA has for complex engine issues and that we have solutions for them. We think EP will be the first publication to be read and the last to be discarded. Because of the nature of content, it is likely that issues will be archived as reference material.

Lastly, AERA wants to inform as many interested people as possible about special AERA events. Regional conferences, training opportunities or anything important to our industry must be shared with all haste. Combined with the AERA website, EP will be a complimentary tool to inform AERA members and the industry at large. We hope you enjoy this new publication as much as we will enjoy bringing it to you.
